This group, specifically Dr. Frank Troncale, is exemplary. I had trepidations about having a colonoscopy directed by my personal m.d. So much so, that I had to cancel the first appt. The procedure was completed today and Dr. Troncale and his entire staff of nurses, anesthesiologists and administration could not have been more upbeat, professional and caring. For those like myself who need a little extra TLC, be sure to choose this group.
Ok, I had my procedure and Dr. Chang and his nursing staff were wonderful. 5 STARS for the Dr. and nursing staff but the scheduling department is in need of a overhaul.
It took three different people to schedule my appointment. Not only that but I had to call 10 minutes before I had to take my "prep" drink because no one got back to me to confirm my next day appointment. My appointment was confirmed only to have to wait over an 1 1/2 hours for my procedure. I had to make other arrangements for a ride since my husband couldn't stay due to his own doctors appointment (he had plenty of time if I went in on time or with a slight delay). Needless to say I'm not a happy camper since I haven't eaten in over 38 hours. Scheduling is a NIGHTMARE! The jury is out on the doctor. We shall see.
My dissatisfaction with this group practice centers around the difficulties I faced when I tried to schedule my appointments. When you call to make an appointment in Guilford the call is relayed to Hamden. A live person answers the phone but directs your call to a voicemail and a phone tag follows. It is extremely inefficient and very frustrating. After dealing with this system several times I finally lost it. Although I feel I received good care from Dr. Canavan and Dr. Jaffe, I will be looking for a new gastroenterologist who has a receptionist who answers the phone AND makes appointments.
They feel they can schedule you anytime they choose, and do not take into account the patients schedules. Their claim of giving priority to diabetics or the elderly is bunk. If they were to try to schedule properly, and not depend on voice mail. They don't call back in a timely manner, and they treat their patients like machines. Now I'm going to have work done there......Hmmmmm...I am talking to my PCP about this ineptness and hope they are not as bad when it comes to doing the procedure as they are about everything else.
